Woodkid – Iron

My housemate plays a lot of Assassin’s Creed. The trailer for Revelations features the song Iron by Yoann Lemoine aka Woodkid.

Naturally, I made sheet music for the song.

This was a fun song to transcribe. It’s more of a reduction than an arrangement. To clarify: a reduction “reduces” all notes from the instruments in the original song into a smaller set of instruments, whereas an arrangement usually takes some creative liberties. This isn’t to say that reductions can’t be creative; they are simply more accurate to the original.

For this version, the piano is pure accompaniment and does not follow the male lead’s melody. If you can sing this let me know!

Iron sheet music

Lyrics

Deep in the ocean, dead and cast away
Where innocence is burned, in flames
A million mile from home, I’m walking ahead
I’m frozen to the bones, I am…

A soldier on my own, I don’t know the way
I’m riding up the heights of shame
I’m waiting for the call, the hand on the chest
I’m ready for the fight, and fate

The sound of iron shots is stuck in my head,
The thunder of the tribes dictates
The rhythm of the falls, the number of dead’s
The rising of the hoards, ahead

From the dawn of time to the end of days
I’ll have to run, away
I want to feel the pain and the bitter taste
Of the blood on my lips, again

This steady burst of snow is burning my hands,
I’m frozen to the bones, I am
A million mile from home, I’m walking away
I can’t remind your eyes, your face

Two things, first, for anyone who has just watched that epic trailer watch the same trailer but someone else sings a song to it. Its called a literal Trailer ITS ABSOLUTLY HILARIOUS! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJjJY5YpKRI

Second, It would be nice if you could make sheet music thats not made for three hands and that you can play the melody in the right hand and the supporting in the left. If you could come out with two versions that would be nice.

Yes the literals for assassins creed brotherhood and revelations are HILARIOUS! I wish Toby could make one for assassins creed 1 or 2.

I would like for you to put this music into cello sheet music….I only play cello and Bass guitar, and would like to play this. I might have a friend that can transcribe it for me, but it would be easier if you could just post it <3

Great work man!!!! I am a beginner and I would really appreciate it if you can write down the piano notes in alphabet form(TEXT C/D/E/F/G)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Part of learning will be figuring out the notes. When I started out, it helped a lot to write down the note names myself — it was a tip my teacher suggested. Good luck!

Are you selling this, or can I freely use it? I think this song, or some variation of it, would make a great brass feature for football games, at least in the urban area..

That sounds awesome! The sheet music is as free (“free beer”) as I can make it. I don’t own the rights for the song, so I can’t really sell it. Check with Woodkid’s agents if you’re planning to perform it live somewhere

Hey! Thank you for the tremendous work! One thing I’ve been constantly in search of but can’t find is sheet music for all percussive and brass portions of the song. It may be a lot of work but I think it would be a something that a lot of people might enjoy. Peace and love,

    Connor E.

Hey Connor — glad you like the sheet music! I’m afraid I didn’t notate the percussive lines, partly due to my unfamiliarity with drums. Hope the piano line is enough for now~

      Cheers!

hey i think that your arrangements are kick ass.
But i am just a solo pianoist and i have bad theory on how to make a composition, so would you mind making an arrangement for just a piano, and i know that you said you were going to in a previous comment. You might have made one that i dont know about, if so please send me a link.
    Thank you

Hey there! I really really want to use your midi file for a cover of that song… may I? :) I´d like to put it on Youtube (don´t expect too much though… I am far from professional) and would give you credit.
