Aside from starting a little language to learn the Avatar language, I've been busy arranging music. From Avatar. Here's War for now; more to come soon. Special thanks to James Horner for composing it.
Website is back, after some asshat script-kiddie from Russia tore it apart. Thanks all to you patient people who couldn't get to World of Goo sheet music, Cave Story sheet music, and all the other music stuff that I do.
Today, I also bring you more sheet music from Coraline: Exploration, composed by the wonderful Bruno Coulais. Both as a piano solo and an ensemble piece. From now on, I won't be publishing Sibelius sheet music, and probably pull down the .sib source files soon.
Exploration: Piano Solo
Exploration: Ensemble (2 harps, 2 voices)
By downloading the ensemble sheet music, you promise to record it when you perform it, and send me a link :)
Aside from midterms, an overwhelming amount of work for an A Cappella record label, and a light case of swine flu, I have discovered that I am broke.
So, if you enjoy my videos, performances, arrangements, or are just feeling generous, I'd very much appreciate anything you can give to help out a(nother) college student.
Piano Concertino No. 1 Scorpion Fire (ピアノ協奏曲第1番"蠍火")
This song has quite a complex history, and too many names. Officially, it is known as ピアノ協奏曲第1番"蠍火" literally "Piano Concertino No. 1 Scorpion Fire", although some translations including the LED marquee's translations reference the name of the song as Anti-Ares, a reference to the star Antares, also known as Scorpii, and its red flame in the sky - the origin of the translation and more commonly used name "Scorpion Fire". It is from Beatmania IIDX 11 IIDXRED (ビートマニア ツーディーエックス, Bītomania Tsūdiekkusu) from One More Extra Stage, known as hell.
The artist is Jun Wakita, one of Konami's in-house composers, whose work is primarily for Beatmania IIDX and Pop'n Music. His alias for this composition is 脇田潤 (Wakida Zyun; "Virkato Wakhmaninov"). The pseudonym should have been a hint of the song's true age; it's a pun on the name of Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. "Piano Concerto No. 1 'Anti-Ares'" is itself a pastiche of Rachmaninov's piano concertos.
This is the sheet music for the in-game cut of the song, ピアノ協奏曲第1番"蠍火"(大きな鍵盤と円盤のための), or Piano Concerto #1 "ANTI-ARES" (arrangement for a great keyboard and disc).

Time of Silence (静寂の時, "Seijaku no Toki")
I played this song a while ago, but finally got around to finishing up sheet music for it. This is Time of Silence (静寂の時, "Seijaku no Toki") from the anime Utawarerumono (うたわれるもの), composed by Hijiri ANZE (安瀬).
Today, I bring you my first duet, with the amazingly talented docjazz4 (David).

I've been a bit busy lately, and haven't had much time to dedicate to music.
However, I bring you a few new videos, and new arrangements in beautifully notated sheet music form.

Hello World, I am still alive. This month, I give you sheet music from PopCap's wonderful game, Plants Vs. Zombies composed by Laura Shigihara! The rather short and simple soundtrack has its appeal though, and sounds wonderful on piano. Expect a medley soon!
Here are 3 of the 12 songs from the game (not counting "There's a Zombie on Your Lawn"):

Down in San Diego for the weekend for Comic Con and Video Games Live. I'm helping out at both events, so if you see a German kid running around, chances are it'll be me. Come say hi!
This is my official plug for something I have been anticipating for three years: an official "Piano Collections Kingdom Hearts." Square Enix released the CD in Japan on May 27th, and a sheet music book today (June 17th). With 12 amazing arrangements by Kaoru Wada (和田 薫) of some of the best Kingdom Hearts songs composed by Yoko Shimomura (下村 陽子), it's one of the most amazing things I've heard.
Here is sheet music for my favorite track, arranged for you to perform and post on YouTube. Sheet music available below.

I saw Coraline a while ago, and all aspects of it were amazing. The music just kinda stuck with me, and after arranging sheet music for The Other Father Song, I had a look at End Credits, and decided it was time for sheet music. Oh yes, and a great thank you to Bruno Coulais for composing this amazing piece of music!

Last quarter, I composed a few songs for a movie by the Moxie Production Group - an on-campus film group dedicated to professional film production for college students. This was my first experience with scoring a short film and working with cues I had to hit. Hence, some of the songs end abruptly and seem distorted in places. Also, due to the unfortunate lack of available instruments, all songs are synthesized with Reason.
MP3s are available for download; Sheet music is available on request.

Kongregate praises the game: "RAID's vibrant graphics and brooding soundtrack alone are enough to send shivers down a gamer's WASD fingers. Combine that with a devilish AI engine and enough weaponry to spark a second Cold War and you've got a flash game that neither noob nor expert can put down. Cheat Codes, 15 Unique Missions, Survival, Multiplayer, and Co-op capability provide the diversity to make RAID the thrilling, endlessly replayable flash experience that you've been waiting for."
For the the last month, I have been composing a score for a a friend's movie project at USC: "Reversal: Part One." I used Sibelius and Reason to create the ambient tracks; my first experiment with industrial and sci-fi music and relying on cue-sheets for precise musical prompts. Watch the 7-minute short here:
More information, by the director:
"Reversal: Part One" is an update of the film "Reversal" that I made in 2005.
Rather than being solely a standalone film, "Reversal: Part One" is the first in a five-part film cycle that tells the story of a dystopian future in which the authorities have some new, alarming duties. The film cycle will explain how the system came to be and its repercussions on society. It will also explore a major disturbance in the system. Each film will be able to stand alone as its own piece apart from the other four films, but will also seamlessly connect to them. Each film is meant to represent a scene from the larger whole, as well as an independent, standalone short.
"Reversal: Part Two" is currently in pre-production. Principal photography will begin this June, and I anticipate a mid-August release.

I saw Coraline yesterday, in all its glory. If you haven't seen it, go to your nearest movie theater (3D preferably) and go watch it. There's this song that everyone seems to want to play... the Other Father Song. Sheet music (vocal + keyboard) is now available by yours truly. The song was composed and performed by They Might Be Giants.
Lyrics:
Makin' up a song about Coraline
She's a peach she's a doll she's a pal of mine
She's as cute as a button in the eyes
of everyone who ever laid their eyes on Coraline
When she comes around exploring
Mom and I will never ever make it boring
Our eyes will be on coraline

Music from the New Age / World genre has always been my favorite. A friend introduced me to Cirque du Soleil a looong time ago, and after finally saving up some money, I saw Mystè re in Las Vegas. Naturally, I fell in love with the music, and proceeded to listen to the music from all the shows. Here is mu arrangement for a small ensemble (celesta, viola, cello, piano): Jeux d'Eau, from Cirque du Soleil's <<O>>, composed by Benoit Jutras. Sheet music here:
Also, if Cirque music is your thing, I personally recommend buying A Music Collection from Cirque du Soleil, a, well, sheet music compilation of some of the best songs.
I was a bit late with discovering the wonder that is World of Goo.
My roommate introduced me, and I instantly fell in love with the game and music. If you haven't already, buy the game, play it,
and thank me later for showing you this gem from 2008. Oh, and download the soundtrack for World of Good from Kyle Gabler's website. It's free! They will be some of the best 49 minutes you will have had recently.
Work-in-progress directory of World of Goo Sheet Music:
Happy Birthday, mom! As a (probably quite odd) present, I arranged, performed and recorded a song from Aladdin - probably one you haven't heard, as it wasn't in the actual movie. Proud of Your Boy is a song composed by Alan Menkin (lyrics by Tim Rice), but it never made the final cut. Mangled YouTube video (thanks to a crappy webcam I used in lieu of a real camera) and sheet music below.

This was my first experience with scoring a short film and working with cues I had to hit. Hence, some of the songs end abruptly and seem distorted in places. Firstly, thank you so much everyone who donated! Having a broken desktop (my main computer) makes life a bit difficult (and nigh impossible to manage as far as video goes). Due to piano-recording-downtime, I had to fill the musical void in my life with arranging--all done on my semi-stable laptop, which barely supports Sibelius. I bring you a few songs from the realms of the Internet. I hope to play a medley of these at one point - alongside some other familiar tunes.
Work-in-progress list of a next medley (unless I get my hands on new Kingdom Hearts music beforehand): Chocolate Rain - Tay Zonday, Caramelldansen - Caramell, Ievan Polkka (leekspin) - Loituma, Numa Numa, Dragostea din tei - Ozone, Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley, Still Alive - Jonathan Coulton, Tunak Tunak Tun - Daler Mehnd, Moskau - Dschinghis Khan, Ding Dong Song - Gunther, The Hampster Dance Song, Happy Tree Friends theme song, Dick in a Box - Justin Timberlake, What Is Love - Haddaway, Candy Mountain Song - Charlie the Unicorn, You Spin Me Round - Dead or Alive, Dota Rave - Basshunter, I Like it Like That - Orangina commercial, Lovers' Theme (guess where this is from for a cookie).
Hey y'all,
My computer recently (yesterday) died, and I have no way of recording/uploading new videos.
I'm pretty much broke right now and could really use your support to buy a new computer.
Consider even $1.
Thanks, and happy holidays! - Sebastian "GermanSeabass" Wolff
Another excellent indie game I recently found is 2D Boy's World of Goo (Wikipedia article). I fell in love upon hearing the music, and instantly started arranging piano-solo sheet music for the main six melodies.
For all you Californians: Please vote NO on Prop 8: Equality for all. Have a listen to one of my greater idols: Michael Scott / DorkmanScott: special effects and film-making genius, and creator of Ryan Vs. Dorkman.
I just ask for 8 minutes of time to listen to his points, all of which I agree with. If I had half the communication skills, fortitude and political affinity, I'd say the same thing.
Saw Video Games Live .. live in San Jose last Tuesday. Meeting Tommy Tallarico, Martin Leung, PianoSquall, Jason Hayes, and a bunch of other amazing and talented people inspired me to finish up a project I started a few weeks ago: arranging Stolen Transport from "Advent Rising" for piano solo. It looks like a pain for the fingers, and is. But it's a fun piece... enjoy!
I first played Cave Story (洞窟物語 - "Dokutsu Monogatari") a few months ago, and immediately got hooked on the music. So, here are the 36 (official) tracks in piano-solo format. I've also included 4-handed arrangements for those with 20 fingers, or something.
So, sheet music (Sibelius, MIDI, PDF) are all available for download. Free, of course, as Pixel intended.
I'm still alive! [t'was a triumph, great success...]
I recorded this about a month ago - sorry, no video. I only had a microphone on me, and I'm still trying to find a video camera for recording.
This improv turned out a bit more harmonious than I expected, so here you are. It's primarily an experiment; there are "mistakes," if you see misplaced harmonies and very intentional accidentals as such. When I improvise, I tend to imagine a scene, like for a film, then fit the music to the mood of the scene. Here I was imagining a storm, so hence the title.
So, I recently discovered the beauty that is Cave Story, a free yet amazing game with equally amazing music. I just couldn't help arranging one of the greatest songs from it (Moonsong) for piano. Four-handed, that is. Have fun growing another two arms to play! I'll probably get around to a few other songs from it as well. And yes, I'm still working on the KH piano medley...
I'm trying to figure out if Google AdSense makes ... well sense. Pardon the ads, but I'm a starving artist college student. You understand, right? Right.
So, for the last four months or so, I've been trying to
transcribe one of my all-time favorite pieces, Shiro, Long Tail's from Wolf's Rain. After uploading it just after Christmas, I noticed a few errors and just now re-uploaded a perfect version. Well, as perfect as it gets. Enjoy!
I'm back and here with a bit of composing in honor of Inverloch - a webcomic by the amazing Sarah Ellerton. I apologize for the poor microphone quality- had I a studio to record in, everything would be a lot easier. In any case, enjoy the four short compositions I've posted on YouTube. mp3s here!
I'm currently running very low, financially. If you like what I do, and have some change, I'd greatly appreciate anything you can give. Consider even $1. Thank you!
