My first run at composing.
This was done for a friend and his project for a game design class. I really wanted a SNES feel to it; nothing too advanced (despite remixing the published version with Reason to give it a better feel). It was a really fun project and I hope I can compose more game music in the future. Again, this is my first try at composing, so any critique is encouraged.
My deepest thanks to Claude Debussy who helped me compose Frostbite. I’m really not a fan of his work, but his piece “The Snow is Dancing” (No. 4 from Children’s Corner) helped set the desolate and completely surreal feel of it.
If you’re wondering if you’ve heard Downtown Barricade before… I used a lot of inspiration from the soundtrack from Professor Layton and the Curious Village. I couldn’t for the life of me track down the composer, so, if you composed the music for this game and are reading this, let me know :D EDIT: Tomohito Nishiura is the amazing composer for Professor Layton (and other games)!
Regarding all other songs, I got most of my inspiration from Yoko Shimomura, Nobuo Uematsu, Koji Kondo, and from Pixel’s game Cave Story. I am still trying to find my own style, with regards to composing and playing, but thanks to these awesome people who inspire me, I can hopefully revise my techniques and become better.
Everything © Sebastian Wolff. Feel free to use my work, but give credit where credit is due, and let me know about if and when you use it.
