Mockingjay Call – Rue’s theme

Perhaps it’s not a good idea to get this hyped up for The Hunger Games when it’s not coming out until March 2012.

Anyhow, here’s sheet music to the Mockingjay Call – the whistled melody representing freedom. We find out about from Rue in the books, and first heard it at the end of the first trailer (below). It’s most likely composed by James Newton Howard and is © Lions Gate Entertainment. I made some sheet music for it.

How to Train Your Dragon – flute sheet music

I’ve gotten quite a few requests for flute-solo sheet music of some of the How to Train Your Dragon songs. Here’s Romantic Flight. I may make more in the future.

Also, allow me to preface this publication with the fact that I’m not a wind-instrumentalist (yet), and that the word “embouchure” still sounds like a French dessert to me.

Hunger Games trailer song

If you’ve read The Hunger Games books, you’re most likely as excited for the movie as I am. Is it March yet?

The teaser trailer that debuted back in November struck a note with me (get it?), and I decided to arrange some sheet music the featured song, “Deep Shadow”.

The song is by T.T.L., the electro-industrial duo of Tying Tiffany and Lorenzo Montana. The song was released by ZerOKilled Music and it’s available for purchase by the label. Go buy it and support the musicians who create the music you love.

Doctor Who – I Am The Doctor

Doctor Who is fantastic. A few days ago, composer Murray Gold opened up his own YouTube channel and posted a cover of I Am The Doctor, accompanied with the biggest understatement of the year “A person playing a piece at the piano…” Have a listen!

I promptly sat down and arranged some sheet music. After some deliberation, I discovered that the song was, in fact, in 7/8, and that my unwilling mind wanted to hear common time. Ah, well…

King Kong – Are You In There

I recently received a request to arranged John Barry‘s piano-solo. A beautiful jazzy piece from the 1976 version of King Kong. I wasn’t able to find a YouTube video of the exact piano version I used, but here’s the closest thing, which is a bit more disco-y than the piano solo.
