How to Train Your Dragon – flute sheet music
by Seabass on Jan.23, 2012, under Sheet Music
I’ve gotten quite a few requests for flute-solo sheet music of some of the How to Train Your Dragon songs. Here’s Romantic Flight. I may make more in the future.
Also, allow me to preface this publication with the fact that I’m not a wind-instrumentalist (yet), and that the word “embouchure” still sounds like a French dessert to me.

Thank you for making this! Other than the fact it has a fairly difficult key signature to play in, it looks great! It would be awesome if you ended up turning some of the other How to Train Your Dragon songs into flute-solo music too. :)

You bet! Thanks for the feedback as well. What key signature would be easier? What are easy/hard keys for flutes?

Well I can’t speak for all flute players, but a large portion of the flute players I’ve played with/talked to have an easier time with flats then they do with sharps.
The easier keys for flutes would usually be C major, F major, Bb major, Eb major, Ab major, G major, D major, and possibly A major depending on the player. I know very little about transposing, so I do not know if it is even possible to transpose Romantic Flight to one of these key signatures unless there is a bunch of accidentals.
More difficult keys would be Db major, E major, B major, and Gb/F# major.
Hope this helps!

Hey, thanks for the help! I bought myself a flute and hope to learn enough to be able to write/arrange better for it.
I can definitely transpose it to a different key. Thank god flute’s in concert key…
Cheers!

Thanks! I don’t play flute, but playing oboe off the piano part was getting very confusing, this is great!

I would really, really love to see “Forbidden Friendship” transposed for flute!!! It’s a popular song, and I think it would be popular sheet music ;)
I agree with Skye — flats come more naturally for a flute player than sharps. I vote for C Major, F major, Bb Major (especially this one), and G Major.
We really appreciate all your work :)

I totally agree. Forbidden Friendship is one of my absolute favourites and I’d really love to be able to play it on my Flute, along with This is Berk.
