Mockingjay Call – Rue’s theme
by Seabass on Jan.30, 2012, under Sheet Music

Perhaps it’s not a good idea to get this hyped up for The Hunger Games when it’s not coming out until March 2012.
Anyhow, here’s sheet music to the Mockingjay Call – the whistled melody representing freedom. We find out about from Rue in the books, and first heard it at the end of the first trailer (below). It’s most likely composed by James Newton Howard and is © Lions Gate Entertainment. I made some sheet music for it.

Perhaps I’m trying too hard.
How to Train Your Dragon – flute sheet music
by Seabass on Jan.23, 2012, under Sheet Music
I’ve gotten quite a few requests for flute-solo sheet music of some of the How to Train Your Dragon songs. Here’s Romantic Flight. I may make more in the future.
Also, allow me to preface this publication with the fact that I’m not a wind-instrumentalist (yet), and that the word “embouchure” still sounds like a French dessert to me.

Hunger Games trailer song
by Seabass on Jan.22, 2012, under Sheet Music

If you’ve read The Hunger Games books, you’re most likely as excited for the movie as I am. Is it March yet?
The teaser trailer that debuted back in November struck a note with me (get it?), and I decided to arrange some sheet music the featured song, “Deep Shadow”.
The song is by T.T.L., the electro-industrial duo of Tying Tiffany and Lorenzo Montana. The song was released by ZerOKilled Music and it’s available for purchase by the label. Go buy it and support the musicians who create the music you love.

Doctor Who – I Am The Doctor
by Seabass on Jan.08, 2012, under Sheet Music
Doctor Who is fantastic. A few days ago, composer Murray Gold opened up his own YouTube channel and posted a cover of I Am The Doctor, accompanied with the biggest understatement of the year “A person playing a piece at the piano…” Have a listen!
I promptly sat down and arranged some sheet music. After some deliberation, I discovered that the song was, in fact, in 7/8, and that my unwilling mind wanted to hear common time. Ah, well…

King Kong – Are You In There
by Seabass on Jan.08, 2012, under Sheet Music
I recently received a request to arranged John Barry‘s piano-solo. A beautiful jazzy piece from the 1976 version of King Kong. I wasn’t able to find a YouTube video of the exact piano version I used, but here’s the closest thing, which is a bit more disco-y than the piano solo.

Young Diana’s Future (The Life Before Her Eyes)
by Seabass on Dec.23, 2011, under Sheet Music
I just completed another ancient transcription request. This is a very pretty song by one of my all-time favorite composers, James Horner (whose list of soundtrack credits is endless).

No More Kings – About Schroeder
by Seabass on Dec.14, 2011, under Sheet Music
Another recently finished request. This one was a lot of fun to arrange. As a nearly exclusively-taught classical musician, my exposure to jazz has always been limited, so I love opportunities to create something with crunchy chords. Sheet music for “About Schroeder” by No More Kings is below. Copyright © Mister Alien Music.

Track and Field – Running up that Hill
by Seabass on Dec.11, 2011, under Sheet Music
Here is another recently completed commission: a song from the TV series “Warehouse 13.” It’s a cover of a Kate Bush song by the band Track and Field; Running Up That Hill. To be honest, I like this version much better.

L.A. Noire Main Theme
by Seabass on Sep.25, 2011, under Sheet Music
My love for Rockstar Games dates back to GTA2, so I quite naturally had a blast watching people play L.A. Noire. Andrew Hale’s fantastic soundtrack has been the sound-scape backdrop of my workday for the past few weeks.
I was quite happy when someone commissioned me (quite a while ago) to arrange the Main Theme from the soundtrack. Here is a rough transcription for a basic jazz ensemble: alto sax, trumpet, piano/keyboard, vibraphone, bass. Drums omitted, sorry.
Game, soundtrack, logo, and everything L.A. Noire is © Rockstar Games. You guys rock.
