by on May.07, 2011, under Blog

My very first arrangement made its way onto iTunes!

About a week ago, I arranged an a cappella version of the Turret Opera. Through A Cappella Records, I got the song professionally recorded, mixed, mastered, licensed, and all that fun stuff.

Now on iTunes – get it here!

Portal 2 – Turret Wife Serenade sheet music

by on Apr.28, 2011, under Sheet Music

Here’s a pretty song from an Easter Egg Valve hid in the game. Apparently the turrets are more musical than previously anticipated. Here’s a piano version. I might arrange an a cappella / choir version if there’s any interest. Yes, no?

The title, as with most songs from Portal 2 is speculative. It’s currently named either “Laser vs. Turret” or “Turret Wife Serenade.” Valve confirmed the title on their official soundtrack page. Keep being awesome, Valve.

Composed by Mike Morasky, © Valve.

Turret Opera (Cara Mia) – a cappella

by on Apr.24, 2011, under Sheet Music

More sheet music from Portal 2!

This is the as-of-now untitled operatic song at the end of the game. Due to lack of official word from Valve, it is referred to as The Fat Lady Sings, Turret Opera or O Cara Mia, Addio. It was composed by Valve’s awesome in-house composer Mike Morasky. Lyrics by Ellen McLain. Here is a choral (SATB + soprano solo) version for your local concert choir and/or a cappella group. A piano version is also available..

Italiano:

Cara bella, cara mia bella!
Mia bambina, o ciel! [pun: Chell = It. "Ciel" = Sky"]
Ché la stimo…
Ché la stimo.
O cara mia, addio!
La mia bambina cara,
perché non passi lontana?
Sì, lontana da Scïenza, [personified]
Cara, cara mia bambina?
Ah, mia bella!
Ah, mia cara!
Ah, mia cara!
Ah, mia bambina!
O cara, cara mia…

English:

Dear beautiful, my beautiful darling!
My child, oh Chell! [pun: "oh heavens!"]
For I hold her in esteem…
For I hold her in esteem.
Farewell to my dear!
My dear girl,
why do you not walk away?
Yes, away from Science,
My dear, my dear girl?
Ah, my beautiful!
Ah, my dear!
Ah, my dear!
Ah, my child!
Oh dear, my dear…

A Cappella version of “F**k You”

by on Mar.23, 2011, under Blog, Film

Here’s a project that I’ve been working on for a few weeks. One of my day jobs involves doing everything from coding/designing websites to video at A Cappella Records, the record label for a cappella music.

Last December, we had a lovely time in San Francisco with Awaken A Cappella, a group from UCLA. We recorded their latest hit – a song by Cee Lo Green you may recognize. [Read the full article on our blog.]

I filmed and edited the whole video over the last two weeks. Enjoy! Warning: explicit lyrics.
