How to Train Your Dragon – flute sheet music

by on Jan.23, 2012, under Sheet Music

I’ve gotten quite a few requests for flute-solo sheet music of some of the How to Train Your Dragon songs. Here’s Romantic Flight. I may make more in the future.

Also, allow me to preface this publication with the fact that I’m not a wind-instrumentalist (yet), and that the word “embouchure” still sounds like a French dessert to me.

I recently got a request to just have a violin line for the Kingdom Dance transcription/reduction I did two a few weeks ago. Here is a violin-solo version of the song. If you play it, I want to hear it!

Composed by Alan Menken, © Wonderland Music Company, Inc. and Walt Disney Music Company.

Along the same lines as a much-simplified version of Test Drive for beginning piano players, here is Forbidden Friendship, the most powerful of

Forbidden Friendship (beginner)

I’m fairly new to arranging pieces way below my level, and I’m sometimes having trouble gauging levels. This is perhaps a 2… a 3? What do you think?

Tangled sheet music – Kingdom Dance

by on Aug.22, 2011, under Sheet Music

Disney’s Tangled was awesome. For a good friend of mine, it had the effect that How to Train Your Dragon had on me: utter inspiration, from a musical, graphical, and storyline viewpoint. Now both of us are determined to break into the animation side of filmmaking, whether it be Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, or somewhere completely different.

Here’s a request for sheet music I got: Kingdom Dance, one of the songs that didn’t make it into the official sheet music.

Composed by Alan Menken, © Wonderland Music Company, Inc. and Walt Disney Music Company.

Update 9/22/2011: Someone requested violin sheet music for the song.

Footnote: I recently upgraded to (now AVID’s) Sibelius 7. It’s fantastic, and I might do some kind of blog post in the future about its awesome new features. (I swear I don’t get paid by them to market their product.)

How to Train Your Dragon

by on Apr.10, 2010, under Sheet Music

Saw DreamWorks’s How to Train Your Dragon on opening night and, naturally, fell in love with movie and soundtrack. Here is piano sheet music for one of the best songs from the soundtrack, Forbidden Friendship, composed by John Powell.

Update (4/23/10): I couldn’t resist creating some sheet music for the piano solo at the end of Where’s Hiccup?, another wonderful track. Expect more HTTYD sheets in the future!

Update (4/26/10): Saw the movie for the 4th time. No, I’m not obsessive. Added sheets for Romantic Flight.

Update (5/8/10): Test Drive added, due to high request volume :)

Update (11/12/10): Saw the movie again a few times and have gone back to arranging This is Berk
