I’ve been playing this song since I first saw Martin Leung (the Video Game Pianist). He’s also the reason I first started uploading videos to YouTube. I’d like to say I’ve improved in the last 5 years, but the sloppiness demonstrated below makes me reconsider that thought… enjoy nonetheless!

My love for Rockstar Games dates back to GTA2, so I quite naturally had a blast watching people play L.A. Noire. Andrew Hale’s fantastic soundtrack has been the sound-scape backdrop of my workday for the past few weeks.

I was quite happy when someone commissioned me (quite a while ago) to arrange the Main Theme from the soundtrack. Here is a rough transcription for a basic jazz ensemble: alto sax, trumpet, piano/keyboard, vibraphone, bass. Drums omitted, sorry.

My housemate plays a lot of Assassin’s Creed. The trailer for Revelations features the song Iron by Yoann Lemoine aka Woodkid.

Naturally, I made sheet music for the song.

This was a fun song to transcribe. It’s more of a reduction than an arrangement. To clarify: a reduction “reduces” all notes from the instruments in the original song into a smaller set of instruments, whereas an arrangement usually takes some creative liberties. This isn’t to say that reductions can’t be creative; they are simply more accurate to the original.

For this version, the piano is pure accompaniment and does not follow the male lead’s melody. If you can sing this let me know!

I just performed Sweden (calm3) with one of my housemates. He plays bass. Sheet music for minecraft is here!

I’m positive that I’m not the only one hooked on Minecraft. The composer of the hugely successful indie game is C418, and he just released the soundtrack a few days ago. You should get it and support video game musicians.

Thanks to him (and Notch, and Mojang, and the various individuals who convinced me to get the game), I started another sheet music arranging project: minecraft.sebastianwolff.info. I will (try my very best) to arrange one song per day (Edit: that’s unreasonable and I already fell behind). With some luck, sheet music for all Minecraft songs will exist by the end of March!
